About your guide
Casey Cravens guides the Mataura, Otago and Southland streams, and wilderness rivers of the South Island. His fishing obsession dates back to a
childhood in a hot dry land far, far away. For 20 years he's fly fished for a wide range of species-from Texas black bass and redfish to Rocky
Mountain cut throats, to Quebec's sea-run brook trout and Atlantic salmon.
Casey moved to Dunedin in 1993, where he and his wife raise two boys. He enjoys backpacking the high country with camera and fly rod, sight fishing
with a dry fly, and tying new patterns for hatch-driven rivers like the Mataura. "I often feel blessed," he says, "surrounded by the world's finest
trout streams and lucky in love".
His wife Elaine is not just an accomplished cook whose meals make their trout tours a moveable feast. She's also a child psychologist. "These two
qualities
explain a lot about Wild Angler's success," he says.
