General Information

For most low-country rivers, the season runs from October 1 to April 30, although the Mataura below Gore will be open in 2006 through May 31. The Otago high-country season generally runs from the 1st of November through to May 31st. But consult regulations for individual rivers. Fiordland rivers, for example, have delayed their opening date by almost a month for the 2005/2006 season. And Canterbury high country rivers open the first Saturday in November.
